I have been mourning the loss of my husband since August 28, 2011. I have never been so sad in my whole life - and that is saying something. I have a widow's support group (which has been very helpful) and the best piece of advice I've received is this: Think of your life as a book. Your marriage is a chapter of the book, and now it has come to an end. It might be the best chapter in the whole book, but it isn't the end of the story. The next chapter is yours to write. Figure out what is going to make you happy, and go for it. So, here we go.
I currently live in Kansas City, and my plan is to move to Ann Arbor, MI. My sister and her husband live there and they plan to start a family, and I want to surround myself with children and puppies. I have a German Shepherd - he was my husband's service dog, and transitioned to my grief councilor. My sister wants an Irish Wolfhound (as do I), but her hubby doesn't want pets. So she will have babies for me to play with, and I will keep the puppies at my house. I look forward to writing this new chapter, to re-engage with life.
Thank you for visiting my blog and for your lovely comments. I didn't expect to read your sad story, I am so sorry for your loss and hope you have found some comfort and inner peace. Hopefully you are living close by to your sister and your days are filled with more pleasant memories. I too lost my husband many years ago (25yrs) yes life does go on, yet even now when I think of him I get sad and teary, however the dear Lord had other plans for me and I am grateful. Stay strong xx
